Shift: Day Shift – 4 x 10-hour shifts (10:30 AM – 9:00 PM)
On-Call: Required Monday through Thursday, 9:00 PM – 7:00 AM

  Position Overview:

Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room at Johnston Memorial Hospital. The OR supports a diverse case load including general surgery, laparoscopic, da Vinci Xi robotic-assisted surgeries, OB/GYN (including C-sections), urology, orthopedics (total joints, trauma excluding pelvic/acetabulum), ENT, plastics, pulmonary procedures, and organ procurement. This role is perfect for an RN with at least 2 years of experience, Epic charting skills, and preferred CNOR certification.

  Key Responsibilities:

• Assist and provide perioperative nursing care during a wide range of surgical procedures including gynecological, orthopedic, general surgery, urology, ENT, plastics, and thoracic cases.
• Support robotic surgeries using da Vinci Xi and Mako systems.
• Administer blood products, manage infection control, and ensure adherence to laser and radiation safety protocols.
• Perform specimen handling and labeling following universal protocol and time-out procedures.
• Assist with urinary bladder catheterization and wound management.
• Respond to emergencies including code responses and malignant hyperthermia.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, and unit secretaries.
• Maintain strict compliance with all safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications:

• Valid Registered Nurse license (license in-hand required at submission).
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
• Epic charting system experience required.
• AHA BLS certification required.
• ACLS and CNOR certifications preferred.
• Must reside 100 miles or more from hospital service area (local candidates not accepted).
• BSN required for international travelers.
• Must complete drug testing 12–14 days prior to start date and comply with all lab requirements.
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed).
• On-call availability Monday through Thursday evenings and nights.

• Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics
• Average Surgical Cases: 18 cases per day
• Number of OR Rooms: 6
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 for day, night, and weekends (as applicable)
