Overview:We are looking for a detail-oriented, highly organized, and motivated Medical Billing Specialist to join our team! The Billing Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring accurate billing, timely claims submission, insurance follow-up, and patient account management for our growing multidisciplinary pediatric therapy practice. If you thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment and enjoy supporting families in accessing care, wed love to meet you!Position Summary:The Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for managing the revenue cycle for therapy services including Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech Therapy (ST), Physical Therapy (PT), Mental Health (MH), Psychology (PSY), and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). This position requires close attention to detail, knowledge of insurance billing practices (including Medicaid and private payers), and strong communication skills to work with families, therapists, and payers to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.Required Skills and Experience:High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's in Health Administration or related field preferredMinimum 2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in pediatric outpatient or behavioral health settingStrong understanding of healthcare billing codes, insurance verification, and authorization processesFamiliarity with Medicaid and Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), including NC MedicaidExperience with EMR systems; knowledge of RainTree is a plusProficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace toolsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently and prioritize multiple tasksExcellent verbal and written communication skillsMust uphold HIPAA compliance at all timesEssential Functions/Responsibilities:(Other duties may be assigned)Submit clean and accurate claims to insurance companies (Medicaid, commercial plans, etc.) for OT, ST, PT, MH, PSY, and ABA servicesFollow up on unpaid or denied claims and resolve billing discrepanciesVerify patient eligibility and benefits prior to initial appointments and at regular intervalsTrack and obtain insurance authorizations for ongoing therapy servicesCommunicate with patients/families regarding account balances, billing questions, and payment plansPost payments, reconcile accounts, and generate patient invoicesMaintain accurate billing records and support daily, weekly and monthly reporting needsCollaborate with front desk staff and clinical team to ensure proper documentation for billing complianceSupport annual audits and quality improvement projectsAssist in updating billing procedures and workflows as insurance policies evolveWhy choose US: Imagine practicing therapy the way YOU wantsurrounded by passionate colleagues, strong office support and a culture that lets you put the client first.
