Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. What you will do Reviews patient information, assigns CPT/ICD-10-CM codes and Modifiers for coding purposes. Codes simple procedures such as Radiology, EKGs, Echoes and other minor procedures. May code Evaluation and Management Services (E/M). Discusses documentation of inconsistencies with providers. Works with clinicians to ensure complete and accurate information appears in patients' medical records. May research denied claims and process appropriately and assist with patient accounts, as needed. Performs other job duties as assigned or requested. Education/Formal Training Requirements High School Diploma or Equivalent Work Experience Requirements No prior work experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledgeable of medical and clinical terminology, disease processes, and pharmacology. Knowledgeable of CPT/ICD-10-CM and Modifiers. Proficient skills in computer programs. Attention to detail. Ability to understand and interpret coding guidelines, payer policies and medical charts. Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness. Ability to conduct routine tasks and contribute to specific objectives and outcomes as directed. Supervision Provided by this Position There are no supervisory responsibilities assigned to this job. Physical Demands The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently. The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
